Just a domain change folks. It may surprise you but that still required quite a bit of work in the background.

Regarding that photo book - we have a trademark on the name now. ;-)

I just registered the new site at google. They are also managing the domain transition in their search results which is sort of neat there.

Don't forget to tell DPReview the change, as they posted some times "less xy tested by PZ". It may surprise you that you two guys still have a reputation  ^_^

Notifications seems broken now. I see a red 1, but when I click on the icon the list is just filled with a rotating waiting symbol.

I'm curious if the .com will make a difference. Perhaps update this thread in a few months with the stats Smile

Any reason not to use https (instead of http) at least for the login dialogue?

To be fair... there is really no real reason for https. A hyped up fake sense of security. From nothing.

Actually I was about to change to https but ran an into an issue with a connected backend service that supported http only (https means https everywhere on a webpage). Will work on this.

If you enter the forum you are still on photozone.de. Once that switches to opticallimits.com (eg after clicking on a message), the notifications do work again. This issue will be gone after the full switch to OL.

There is an option in the forum software to change to https just for the login. That is really the only part that is important from an https-POV. Some browsers will still complain, but at least it makes it safer to log in.

HTH, kind regards, Wim

While I might agree there is not a huge amount of value in the forums being https (other than perhaps login - but even there i'm not sure how valuable one password word/identify is for this application; I fail to see the reason in your logic that https is a fake sense of security. While it is true that many it departments are clueless about security and leave their site vulnerable regardless of having implemented https that is not a flaw with https.

Perhaps you have some additional valuable insight you wish to provide on this subject ?
