The end of the 500 - joachim - 05-01-2013

Another classic camera ceases production - the Hasselblad 500 series of cameras: http://www.amateurphotographer.co.uk/photo-news/539671/hasselblad-to-cease-production-of-legendary-v-system-cameras

To me, together with the Leica M and the Rolleiflex these are the real cameras of an era now gone by.  A bit like the Violins of Photography.  I am wondering whether this is now dead-dead or whether we will see it come back as high prised collector item (as we did for Rolleiflexes and Leica Ms: http://www.amateurphotographer.co.uk/photo-news/539671/hasselblad-to-cease-production-of-legendary-v-system-cameras http://uk.leica-camera.com/photography/m_system/leica_a_la_carte/ ) we will see.

Everything ends.

However, the concept itself isn't dead (exchangeable backs).
