Very good build quality, only equalled by the Canon 180mm f3.5 (which obviously does not mount on a Nikon body). Bad points: Slow AF. But the Tamron is also slow. The Sigma 150mm f2.8 is faster with AF, but a shorter tele. Very hefty price tag. Won't AF on bodies without which lack AF motor. Worthy competitors for this lens for Nikon body: Tamron 180mm f3.5 (won't AF on bodies without AF motor either) and Sigma 150mm f2.8. nikon 200mm marco lens - Guest - 04-28-2011 Warwick, I will concur with Brightcolours's assessment, only to add that the positives FAR outweigh the negatives. The optical quality cannot be touted enough. The lack of aberrations is amazing. For how often I use the lens, I really should have more photos dedicated to it, however you can see samples in the following links: http://blog.seancarpenter.us/tag/nikon-200mm-f4-macro/ http://www.pbase.com/carpents/eq_nafd200f4 Hope this helps, Sean |
