Well, apart from some old goodies (like the 28mm f/2.8 AiS, or 50mm f/1.4), this kind of lenses are not only produced by Nikon. Zeiss and Voiglaender for instance have AiS-like lenses with very good optical quality. I used the 28mm Nikon on my D800, and can say that it will definitely do a very good job on the D600. Besides, the MF lenses equipped with large turning angle focus rings, help a lot in video...
