Well, I've tested it on the NEX 7 (using the EA-LA2) already.
However, the NEX 7 sensor characteristic introduces a point of uncertainty to the tests so I'm not confortable to publish this.
Frankly, I'm a little lost how to proceed on Sony Alpha APS-C. The 24mp sensor is flawed IMHO and the old A700 is fairly old.
Could you explain what kind of flaw?
Thank you

Did you compare NEX 7+EA-LA2 vs A77?

Well, I just got a 2nd NEX 7 for comparison with no effect. I will not get an A77 just to verify this once again.
The A55 would be more interesting but 16mp vs 12mp isn't that hot either.

I had not read your comments about Nex 7 vs Nex5 in the camera forum before to initiate this post.
Happy to have asked the question before to do a mistake.

On the other side, what you got with NEX7 is what others users will get too. You should publish your findings and move on to other gear: We're still waiting for a FF test of the 135 STF <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

This is a lens testing site though. The results shouldn't be polluted by a sensor issue.
I will publish the results though - although I don't think that the Sony community will like this.

this little 1/2(now) member of the sony community prefers facts to fiction and hopefully the report might be a wakeup call for some.... but then again maybe not.....
.....and surely one would buy the 55 for the viewfinder alone (over the pixels) - it must be a classic already

This may be a lens test site, but given the method used, Imatest, the actual test is always of a system. A system containing a lens, usually an AA filter, some other filters, micro lenses etc. And there is a RAW converter. All these things influence the results. Tests where preformed with range finder lenses on the NEX-5. This is not a brilliant combination and the results reflect that. The same lenses will almost certainly give other results on another camera. The NEX-5n seems to be best NEX, with rangefinder lenses. And the difference between the 5n and the 5 is significant.
As example of the influence of the complete sensor system; when I compared results of a Nikon 16-85 on a d7000 and a NEX-5n, the later shows clearly better micro contrast, at least giving the illusion of more detail.
And the Sony CZ24-70 used on a NEX-7,at least my copy, beats any lens/camera combination I have ever seen, including the same lens on a Sony a900. Corner to corner. And completely contrary what other results suggest, the 24-70 is already very good with the lens wide open (in the shorter range of the lens).
It is a pity that Sony did not use the improvements made in the 5n for the 7. But even so, it can still be a brilliant camera. We are so spoiled with great gear nowadays. This little wonder give me better results than I ever got out of my Mamiya RB 67 or my Linhof super Technika (6x7).
