The 24-105mm f4 L IS USM has been taking the role as kit lens, with a kit lens price comparable to this lens' launch price. The STM will be nice for video (more silent than USM even).

Shall look forward to a comparison of this against the 24-105L as I'm still debating replacing the forgettable 28-135 but don't want to pay for it.
