Not the most exciting focal length

Feels like another pancake lens.

Depending on how macro it actually is, it is a very exciting focal length. Wider angle close up photography is very nice, and solutions are not many. Like Klaus says, it may be a small lens which makes it a nice small standard prime then (45mm FF equivalent). With IS.

It'll help EOS M catch up a little bit. Always wanted a wide® angle macro although even if it happens, it doesn't mean I'll go M.

There is already the excellent 22mm, perhaps something a bit further away, say a 50mm f1.8?

To me, 35 and 45mm are wide apart enough.. 50mm is a bit lazy a choice? A better choice would be 55mm ( 55 x 1.6 = 88mm).

I'd rather see a faster prime lense coming, e.g. 1.8/35. If macro, I'd prefer something like a 3.5/50mm as it was rumored some time ago.

More "rumour" info on the lens:
  • Lightest macro lens
  • Built-in macro light
  • Hybrid IS (like the 100mm L)
  • 1 UD, 2 aspherical elements
  • Max. magnification 1.2x
I find it an interesting lens. Small, light normal prime with real macro capabilities.

but not fast enough to be really interesting. f/3.5 max? Gimme a break, man!
