Before anyone starts a massive hue and cry campaign about the need for high pixel density cameras, allow me to remind everyone what was being said about high pixel density sensors just two years ago.
[size="2"][color="#EFEFEF"][color="#000000"]I shall quote what the 'highly respected' Rob Galbraith once said when the 1D4 and 7D were announced. And his voice is merely representative of what the masses were crying for in 2009.

"Bumping up the image pixel count from 10.01 to 16.06 million, in a sensor that's about the same 1.3x crop size as before (at 27.9mm x 18.6mm, the Mark IV sensor is fractionally smaller than that of the EOS-1D Mark III), meant dropping the pixel pitch from 7.2µm to 5.7µm.
All other things being equal, larger pixels lead to better high ISO pictures than smaller pixels, so Canon's self-assigned mission to significantly boost image resolution and high ISO could well be viewed as an impossible one."

"Put in charge of the 7D's development, we'd have chosen something like a 12MP sensor with better high ISO performance and more pleasing low ISO files."
