Well low light and sports shooters were asking for better low light performance while landscpae(tripod) shooters asked for higher resolution (in the 7D). It is quite dangerous and ignorant to claim that rob galbraith (RG) and yourself are representative of "the masses" of all photographers. RG is a sports shooter with a particular interest in low light. He is by no means representive of all photographers out there. Just because somebody with great expertise in a narrow field of photogrphy cries his views out on the internet doesnt relieve one of using ones own brain and form a personal opinion . In the future, please use arguments, not blindly quoted reference to prove your point.
bTW, I agree that 18MP on FF are a great compromise of Resolution vs. low noise.
