Yes, those were the days. My first online experience was with a 2400 kBaud modem and Compuserve (which was even pre-Usenet). Their first invoice was a terrible shock <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

However even Usenet started out flat and it took a while until news readers offered really usable threaded views (I remeber FreeAgent as one of the first with really usable threaded view on Windows).

Even today, some prefer a flat view and this leads to the same issue we face here: to suit both, careful selective quoting should be used.

Oh, I remember those days. With a 300 baud modem, upgraded very rapidly to 1200 baud, and boy, was that fast. <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' /> That was back in 1986 <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' />. I remember spending more than a whole monthly salary on online costs in less than two weeks, in 1987, just trying to find some answers to some esoteric stuff on hacking into some developer backend I needed for a lecture I presented <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' />.

Kind regards, Wim
