The Nikkor AF-S 70-200m f2.8 E FL VR has made an improvement in that area compared to the lens it replaces, and that replaced lens already did better than the Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8 IS USM II, concerning veiling. The IS USM III is supposed to have improved there (it has updated to better newer coatings).

I have doubts here ... 
The issue with tele lenses and flare is not just about coating. I suspect this relates to the number of large optical elements that magnify the flare/glare.
