According to 43rumors.com, Olympus is preparing to release a new 40-150 f/2.8 constant aperture zoom :-)

That's pretty good news although I wish they would have made it 200mm at least (150 is a bit on the short side of things).
If true they probably did limit it to 150mm due to size issues.
I always felt that the Pana 35-100mm is a little too short.

I agree it would probably be too big.
I wonder if Oly will also release a new high grade 1.4x converter at some point.
That would make this lens a 80-300 f/5.6 which is quite attractive when reach is needed.
You mean 56-210mm f/4 (or 112-420mm f/8 equiv).
A 2x converter for a zoom doesn't feel advisable.

Right, I was thinking 2x in my calculations for some reason.
It would indeed be a 112-420 f/8 FF equivalent lens, although it terms of speed it would still be f/4 though.
Perhaps a good quality 1.7x would be feasible and still lead to descent IQ?
That would make it a 68-255 f/4.8 (136-510 f/9.5 FF equiv)
I am more interested in the next utrawide zoom.

Wouldn't Olympus release a something like 8-16mm f2.8 sometime after the 12-40mm f2.8 and the 40-150mm f2.8?

I'm not aware of any 8-16 f2.8 announcement. Where did you read it?
I think there would be more emphasis on long end than wide end; as the wide end has some pretty decent lenses. The long end is a bit weak (ala 70-300/100-300).
