that would make sense wrt the visibly larger dynamic range than the panasonic ones. A difference this large you would not expect from just 'tweaking'?
As I said, very "flexible" sensor. Very pleasant to work with (from a MFT user point of view).
Still something to take with a pinch of salt though :-)

There is no "pinch of salt"
President of Olympus, Hiroyuki Sasa, told Yahoo Japan that the sensor in EM-5 was made by Sony

This isn't a "rumor" ...

These days is a "pinch of salt" in just about anything Olympus execs claim. Anyhow, I would be pleased to see that it´s indeed superior to the best sensor Panasonic has provided so far (the GH2 one). The MFT space needs competition and Panasonic looks pretty lazy right now - in terms of their sensor tech and beyond. They need to offer cams with better displays, with better EVFs, with electronic (global) shutter, and with better sensors.

I take it you're an active worker in some company, you must have witnessed a managing director embarassing himself with wrong information or incorrect assumptions right in the face of its engineers at least once in your life.
Also, take note the question (if the translation is not misplacing facts, another reserve) was raised in a microscope presentation. It might well be that the imagers used in the microscopes are of Sony build and that their photo division still use Panasonics. Such incidents happen easily.
Don't get me wrong, I believe that news item(see my first post) but 43rumors & an automated translation are no proof good enough to me.
I'll have my salad with a pinch of salt, the way I like it.

Here is another independent source (aside from Yahoo japan) that confirms Hiroyuki Sasa said EM-5 sensor was made by Sony
http://dc.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/...44400.html
These people speak Japanese, so obviously they didn't "mistranslate"

Bodes well for Oly future products if Sony keeps being the one to watch :-)
