Since the D7000 is not totally replacement of the D300s, and the D300s is now officially discontinued (as is the D700), there should be a D400 be close to market..

Not sure. They could have decided to let it die a slow and pain-full death. How much of a market is left for a professional build APS-C body?

Interesting to see that the D90 is listed on the page you shared. Nikon Europe still has it on the products list and not under discontinued.

It doesn't have to be an APS-C body <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> either way there's a huge price gap between the D7000 and the D800 once the D700 is sold out and gone.. it's up to Nikon whether they'll make a 24Mp "D400" or a say, 16Mp D700s <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> but I would bet on a Nikon's application of the Sony 24Mp APS-C sensor now and maybe next year we'll see a proper D700S with the D4 sensor onboard..

I hope Nikon will give as a D800h, D4 sensor in a D800 body. Maybe they even call this D400. I doubt it will be (much) cheaper than D800.

Also there is room for a camera body based on D7000 with bigger prism and FF sensor, maybe with rumored Sony's new 24MP Sony sensor.

I think there is a small market for semi-pro body ad D300(s) was, even last rumors suggests that Canon will abandon 7D line.
