Looks like a very nice lens. And from what I can see, you pretty much get f/1.4G optics limited to f/1.8 aperture.

Christian
Yep. I like it <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Did the MTF analysis yesterday (looks good) and will spend large parts of the day shooting with it. Maybe not quite as smooth bokeh as the f/1.4G, but certainly performing on a very high level.

I may be able to upload samples to SmugMug tonight.

Wow, you already have it as well? Great to hear its high on your priority list :-) The 1.4G is over my budget and after my personal experiences I just can't convince myself to get the 1.4 Sigma, despite Photozones positive tests.

Looking forward to your experiences, Markus!

Christian
Yes, it's a lens that was high on my personal wish list even before it was announced <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

It's available in several stores since last Friday (at least in Germany). That's slightly ahead of the initially announced schedule, which mentioned March.

Well, it does seem to be improved in some aspects (MTF), but worse in others (like CA). For those not owning a 85mm lens, I'd certainly recommend the AF-S over the AF-D. Upgrading is a different story, though. I can't really give answer this with yes or no.

The weather has been very cooperative today, I'll upload a full sample gallery later tonight.
