If I have something, which I feel is news, why can't I post there? If it is not equipment related I feel I have to use "just talk" which also doesn't fully fit. Could we have a "general photography" column?

I have to say, I still news posted by real humans (forum members and mods) to these press releases. Real humans tend to provide some form of comment - e.g. whether they like or dislike.
