Well, it may be a great lens but it is certainly not a small one.

But it seems to have a constant physical length.

A cool feature - 0.7x max. magnification based on a floating system design.

211g

Actually a perfect lens for hiking it seems.
Its only 0.36x, the 0.72 value is a "35mm equivalent". Since they are happy to apply these "35mm equivalent" multiplication factors to maximum focal length and now macro, why not be consistent and also advertise the equivalent aperture...

MTFs:

Not bad (remember that they provide the MTFs at 60lp/mm) but not better than for the 14-42 actually.
57 mm Ø, 83 mm is still pretty small.
Olympus executives have been siphoning off money for a long time. Now it seems, they've stolen a stop of aperture from this lens as well (should've been f/3.5-4.5 or something to be interesting, methinks <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />).

Strange mixture of specs. I won't come back on the long end <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> but quite interesting otherwise. I appreciate the new 12mm wide end and more importantly, I cross my fingers it's announcing new bodies with hopefully a g3 like sensor and the matching weatherproofing *smiles at fond memories of scotland and the constant shuffling of plastic bags*

Still not on the matching simulator
