I guess that one even took the rumor mill by surprise:

Will try to get one ASAP.

Well, regarding all the expected products I'd guess that Nikon has different development plans at the moment.
I'd say they've shifted their resources to the development of a mirrorless system.

Hallo Markus,
Thanks to share this. Looks cool.
It seems to me that Nikon is just the most serious in supporting APS-C DSLRs. The interesting question is, what are their plans for a mirror less setup.

Hi Klaus,
Sorry you lost me. Why do you take the release of an APS-C DSLR lens as a sign that they shift resources into mirrorless? I took it the opposite way.

Yep, they're obviously still very serious about DX.
Looking at the small and affordable DX lenses they release, I guess it's safe to assume now that a mirrorless solution from Nikon will indeed use a much smaller sensor than APS-C.

Will there finally then also be a test of the Tokina 35mm f2.8 DX macro? That lens has been ignored... And yet it was the first to bring 50-60mmm macro to APS-C.
BTW, interesting to see that the lens design is (nearly) identical:
Tokina 35mm f2.8 DX macro
Nikon 40mm f2.8 DX Micro
This Nikon lens has a very nice price, like the Sony 30mm macro. Is it an all plastics construction like the Sony?

I hope I am not revealing a secret, but there are already sample pictures at Photozone's Smugmug page.
Actually, I was thinking about buying the Tokina as a light-weight all-in-one macro normal prime. Now I will have to postpone the decision. The new 40mm paired with a D3100 would make an even smaller setup, since the Tokina requires a screw-driver camera.

It seems to have a metal mount.

Ah yes, interesting point... the D3100 is quite a bit more compact than the D90. Should be a very portable setup <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />.
I am using my Canon EF 35mm f2 with 12mm extension tube at the moment, which brings it to about 1:2. That Tokina was introduced just after I got that lens. <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
That Tokina will find itself in my collection at some point, looking forward to the review.

That is nice then, it will give the lens a sense of quality.
When I got my 35mm f2 for wider field of view close ups, I thought I was just strange, wanting that. Then the Tokina/Pentax 35mm f2.8 macro happened... The 30mm Sony macro, now the Nikon 40mm micro.
Maybe not so strange after all <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
