It's less than half the price ...

Fwiw, the Pana 14-140 cannot match the Leica either based on what I have seen in the field - worse corners and long end.

Yardstick already laid down by Leica 14-150 f/3.5-5.6 OIS lens.
I am most surprised the Oly lens does not even come close.

I am not. Most consumers of such a lens will probably value the lower weight and lower price of the Oly much more.

I'm using the Leica 14-150 via adapter and I will either get the Pana 7-14 or Oly 7-14 soon. Plus the Oly 45.

This is exciting news. Can you give a rough estimate when we can see a 45/1.8 test online?

The leica lens is $1700 and then you need an adapter <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Maybe one day oly will release the 14-55 or 12-60 with native micro 4/3 mount. Kind of a large lens for a small body but pleasing speed/optics.

Not sure if that 12-60mm in MFT form will happen... Apparently, Olympus say that "big optics" pose fundamental problems, in that contrast detect AF with its many small steps creates a problem (my guess is in AF speed) that they have "capitulated".

I doubt so. The Pana 100-300 or Oly 75-300 are also fairly "big" - bigger than an Oly 12-60 - and their inner focusing path is quite long.
Most of the high speed AF lenses have a rear-focusing system thus only the smallest aka the most light-weight lens groups are moved.
Sony has also announced a standard G zoom lens for 2012 so this should also be possibly for MFT.
