I just received a notice from Sigma Germany that my 15-30mm lens (Canon mount) cannot be repaired due to the non availability of parts. So, I would like to replace it. I already have 28mm and up covered. I would like it to be a zoom of course. I would like to stay under €350. New, but a good used lens will also make me happy. I was happy with the 15-30mm lens focal length. Any suggestions?
Sigma offered me a 17-70/2,8-4,0 DC MACRO OS HSM for €366,52 including shipping and taxes, but I am not interested in having the duplicity of the 28-70mm focal length in my kit.

So, you basically want 15-27mm APS-C for Canon? Problem is that wider than 17mm is hard, for under $350 (new prices). And used prices... unknown, and dependent on availability.
There have not been FF zoom lenses that would cover 15-30m except that one Sigma. Standard APS-C zoomlenses go to 18 or 17mm, not 15. The Canon 15-85mm f3.5-5.6 IS USM is out of your budget (and the wide end has more barrel distortion than you are used to with the 15-30).
So, that just leaves the ultra wide zooms for APS-C, which go wider than you are looking for and stop at 24mm at most.
Tokina 12-24mm f4 DX. Good lens, AC well correctable in post processing. Downside: Can develop a problem with aperture from 12-15mm, well known problem but not covered outside warranty period... SHAME ON YOU Tokina).
Canon 10-22mm f3.5-4.5 USM. Nice lens too, but stops at 22mm already.
The Tamron 10-24mm is optically a bit inferior to the two above.
The Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 already stops at 20mm, the Sigma 8-16mm and Tokina 11-16mm even at 16mm.
So there you have it... other than finding a fuctioning 15-30mm from Sigma again, you can't match the focal range, unless you go for the out of budget Canon EF-S 15-85mm.
The Sigma 15-30mm is a FF compatible lens. So it is not a surprise that you liked the IQ on the APS-C camera. But if you look for a FF compatible UWA lens with a price not exceeding 350€ limit, good luck Bryan... I think you have to check the used versions of:
Sigma 15-30mm
Sigma 12-24mm (MK-I)
(incase you insist on having AF).
But why not giving it a try for the "limited" zoom ranges in UWA area? I guess you already have a zoom lens beginning with 28mm FL. Try the Tokina 11-16mm... I used it + the 24-85mm on D90 and did not feel the absense of 17-23mm range... But of course, that's me talking, it highly depends on your own FoV choices...

I should have mentioned, I do not necessarily require a zoom. I can still zoom with my feet. So, I am open to the idea of a prime. Probably something wider than @20mm would be most logical in light of already having a 28mm lens. And, I do not require AF. Thanks Serkan and BC for your suggestions. I will look into your recommendations. I do not use focal lengths wider than 28mm very often, so I am not in a hurry. I just want to make a smart and informed decision when the opportunity arises.
I am a little apprehensive about a used 15-30mm Sigma since the lack of parts availability. With my luck, I would purchase a used one and have the same problem as my current lens. (The aperture stuck at f8ish.)

A prime wider than 20mm is very unlikely to have a price around 350€, Bryan... At least on Nikon side, 20mm is the border before freaking priced-primes.

One funny tidbit related to my lens dying- Sigma Deutschland is located on Carl Zeiss Str. <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol:' />
It would be funnier if CZ HQ was on Sigma Str...
Back to the main question, the only affordable wide prime I can think of would be the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 which should be in budget. Very sharp but the distortion is also rather high.

thanks for the suggestion PoPo. But, I think that the best use of my money now is to apply it towards a full frame body in the near future.
Yes Markus, it is almost blasphemy. I wonder if Sigma thought Zeiss had a facility there and they could spy...or did Zeiss say "there goes the neighborhood" and move?
