I wish Pentax would deliver something like that. How is the contrast situation? It seems a bit on the low side fully open compared to my Sigma 1,4.

What the... You guys reviewed a lens that hasn't even shipped here in the US!
Bokeh now looks good enough with this lens, I just might go grab one now. In the mean time, I too would like to know more about the lesser contrast.
Also, is it possible to get a photo with some bright shiny objects in the back round wide open?

Well, that's quite common with fast glass. Wide open, the contrast is a bit lower than slightly stopped down. It's well visible in the bokeh fringing samples, but these are shot at rather close focus, where many lenses lack contrast anyway. So, the issue is emphasized in these shots.
In the field, it's less of an issue though. And, at least when shooting RAW, the cure is quite simple and only one slider move away <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

Just see if you can find some difficult/ busy back rounds that you can find. And how the new 50mm 1.8G handles them. If possible, do some side by side test with the other 50mm lenses that you have.
Looking at the samples again, it really looks like the bokeh has GREATLY improved! And there seems to be a lack of massive purple fringing.

A possible improvement for photozone in the future, might be to connect tests of the same lens on different platforms (FF vs APS-C, different mounts). Even if a given lens has not been tested on the platform an individual user is most interested in, a test on another platform gives some guidance whether this is a total lemon or not - something which performs well on Nikon FF is unlikely to be a total dog on Nikon APS-C.
