Towards the 55-250 - not really except for vignetting.

Thank you. Is it possible to generalize this by saying that differences of about 100 LW/PH are hardly visible outside the lab and differences of about 200 LW/PH are visible (but still not huge)?

It all depends. The subjective quality perceptions needs to take CAs into account.
Assuming the CAs are about equal I'd say that normal mortals will see a difference from 250 LW/PH onwards.
