down sampled high ISO noise should be equal
12 channel readout against 8: whatever this means
200000 shutter life agains 150000
absence of AA filter (pixel level sharpness, wow)
Finally, the DX mode: Till now, maybe not so hot. But at 36mp, i can buy 3 lenses
and they become 6 lenses because i still have 16MP.
3: I love this, as most Nikonians absolutely refused to believe this during the many years when they lagged in MP count.
5: You can use more to help get the data off the sensor faster. A 36MP sensor has a lot more data to get off, it would tend to need more. But that says nothing about the speed of each channel, which is unknown and would tell us the overall throughput. Overall the D800 does push more pixel per second, if that means much to photography practically.
7: most people would take years to reach that, and they're replaceable anyway.
9: optional extra, if you don't care at all about colour moire.
12: this is kinda the reason I'd prefer a higher MP sensor. I wouldn't actually use a DX lens if I could, or set it to crop in body, but I see it as giving longer lenses a boost from cropping. Alternatively, compared to using it on crop, you just gained a lot on the wide angle, as a kinda un-zoom factor. Yes, one reason I have for using a bigger sensor is effectively zoom extension on the wide end, providing you can adequately crop to maintain the long end.
