Suggestions for football matches shooting setup

I have to shoot football matches locally here in Qatar.
I can't justify paying big money for casual shooting of my son playing (and the first team sometimes)
I already have 7D2 plus Tamron 70-200f2.8 G1 doing a fair job, plus EOSRP of no big use except team photo before match and when I need wide angle (I never remove 70-200 from 7D2 during matches because I might well miss something important.
my options: get R7 my most likely scenario, keep thing simple
other options I am considering getting a full frame body but lenses prices will start getting insane....
any suggestions

What is your intended use with the final images? What's the 7D2 and the 70-200/2.8 (100-300/2.8 ff eq) not doing for you?

I've used worse setups in the past to take pictures of my GF's kids rugby matches, a 650D with a sigma 70-200/2.8. Occasionally I would put on a 1.4x tc. The results were more than good enough for my use. One picture was even used for the league's poster.

Sell both the RP and the 7D2 - and get the R8?

Although there's the question mark whether an adapter solution to your G1 is feasible.

Or better yet, get out of the RF system altogether before you fall too deep into that sinkhole. 🙂
