Haven't we heard this a few times before? If worthwhile improvements all run out, we'll probably see another spiral of the megapixel race for a while, until something new is invented.
Yes we have heard this before and, for the most part it has been true ..... Quote:
"global digital camera shipments from 2007 to 2025, peaking at 121.46 million in 2010, then declining steadily to 9.44 million in 2025."
..... the last few years have seen a sales increase because of the transition to MLCs, which have had a meteoric rise in framerate/ AF subject tracking/ and a corresponding reduction in rolling shutter ..... which have left earlier models ripe for updating ....
now with almost bottomless buffers, 40 fps, excellent AF tracking, 45-61 Mps sensors and a recent drop in rolling shutter .... where does that leave us to go .....
I don't see 80-100 Mps sensors propping up the market .....
don't get me wrong I'm not saying the market will collapse, but a significant drop in sales set against the compact market which is again expanding .......
