mike Since Klaus' review of the Laowa fisheye I've been gassing to pick one up. But I can't decide which way to go. I'm considering either the Samyang 7.5mm f/3.5 for the Pen F or the TTartisan 11mm f/2.8 for the 7rII. They're both inexpensive and can be found used in mint condition for less than half the price of new. It's mostly for fun and I'm sure it won't be used a lot. Thoughts? Pros and cons for each system?
Klaus The TT 11mm is FF, right? So the FoV is quite a bit reduced on APS-C. The Sanyang is a naive MFT design I think?
mike Klaus The TT would be used on my Full Frame Sony alpha 7r II. The Samyang is a native MFT design. To be used on my MFT Oly Pen-F. They both have a 180-degree diagonal field of view on their respective cameras. *Yes, I have old cameras!
Klaus Ah, I read 7D II instead of 7R II for some reason ;-) Probably the missing "A". I was almost wondering. LOL
mike Yesterday I picked up the Samyang/Rokinon 7.5mm for my MFT. $75 in mint condition. It kind of sealed the deal:-) I went hiking with it. Got some good shots, but it'll definitely take practice. Images were sharp with better than expected micro contrast. The one thing that surprised me was how hard it was to keep the mid-day sun from sneaking into the edge of the picture. It felt like the FOV was more like 225 degrees!
