I guess I'm old school and struggle with the idea of any zoom lens, not having a max aperture of f/5.6. More so in this zoom range.

A plastic mount on a 500$/€ lens? ..... the lens has some length, giving enough leverage to break it, like from a camera bag jostle for example .....

Looks a bit better - especially at 24mm - than the Canon "original" they cribbed the stats from. :-) Interestingly, for the superzooms, it was the other way around (the Canon is clearly better while being longer). Not that anyone is cross-shopping between brands at this level, mind you.

What's next, the 24-50 on the ~~chopping~~ testing block? :-)

It was funny when the Nikon 24-50mm f/4-6.3 came out - I thought "is that the most uninspiring lens ever?" But then, Canon said "hold my sake" and released a lens that was, if just by a fraction of a stop, more uninspiring than that - the 24-50mm f/4.5-6.3. :-)

Never underestimate the drive to reach the bottom! :-)
