davethebirder I was hoping (in a detached way) that the extra three elements of the 28mm over the rather dated six element design of the 40mm would go some way towards giving better sharpness overall and in the corners and it does ...... ....... overall the 40mm deserved a couple of extra elements and give Nikonites more bang for buck ........ ..... how come the 28mm is slightly cheaper?
Rover I wonder if the Nikon 26 is any better. It was certainly hyped, and the price is quite something too (I was eyeballing it for a few seconds before the sticker shock jolted me awake - I'll really stick with the 16-50mm pancake instead).
