Samyang 85mm, 1.4 - borisbg - 08-05-2010 Hi Jenbenn, I ordered it already. The store has good return policy, so if I don't like it I will pay the shipping and restocking fee. This is exactly what I am going to use it for. So far most of the reviewers and users liked it even the MF. I will post update here. Samyang 85mm, 1.4 - borisbg - 08-05-2010 Wim, thank you very much, very kind of you. I ordered the Samyang copy. I hope is for good. Thanks again. I never had such fast lens. I don't mind the manual focus, the results are good enough for me. See the following shots. F1.4 in shade, afternoon. Samyang 85mm, 1.4 - wim - 08-23-2010
No. The birds were taken with different lens :-). What do you think about the samyang shots in terms of rendering?
I only saw the one you posted here, the flowers (cosmos, one of my favourites, actually). Looks fine to me, a little bluish, but then, I am used to Canon lenses <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />. I'd say it is a little less bluish than a Tokina lens. Very easily corrected in PP anyway if you feel the need. Bokeh in the background is great, close to the focus plane maybe a little busy, but only slightly more so than the Canon 85L. The photograph looks a little on the soft side, but that could well be a combination of the internet and the (small) size. Looking carefully I do think I can see the striae on the petals of the cosmos, so that would indicate it is a lot sharper than the photograph posted here can actually show. I'd say that this is sharper wide open than the Canon EF 85 F/1.8, so that's very, very good indeed. Kind regards, Wim |
