Not sure what to make of its MTFs. Not too hot but this MAY relate to the slow aperture.

Seems to be a reasonable value to me this time.

The big question mark may be image quality - 3x UD elements aren't a hell of a lot for such a long lens. However, I give Canon the benefit of the doubt here.

Happy to be proven wrong on both counts. It's time Canon got off their usual high horse, if just for a while.

As I understand there is now a multifunctional ring, but no real focus ring.  I don’t yet understand what that means, though they may be on a journey to drop the focus ring.   

I rarely use these on my lenses.  S-AF most of the time and C-AF in special situations. Very rarest do I move to MF.
