Sigma's release? - Sylvain - 09-17-2012

Speaking of the Sigma devil :

http://www.imaging-resource.com/news/2012/09/17/whether-you-want-artistic-sports-or-just-everyday-shots-sigma-has-a-lens

And something for Klaus :

"...introduced three new lenses -- one for each new category -- and shared how the company is stepping up its lens testing and quality control processes."

I believe the 35mm f/1.4 is a new lens ? (might have missed it, sorry if I did)

Hope they have more coming.

check http://sigma-global.com/en/lenses/cas/ for good marketing.

Greetings,

S.

"You might think of it as adding tags to a database."

way too geeky.

but

"Based on these new product lines, we have developed special software (SIGMA Optimization Pro) that can update the lens firmware and adjust parameters such as focus . The focus limiter is also customizable for Sports lenses. Using special USB Dock, the user will be able to connect the lens to their PC, and, using easy-to-operate on-screen controls, fine-tune focus and adjust other parameters to suit their personal preferences."

is interesting.

Sigma's release? - mst - 09-17-2012

Interesting. Less than an hour ago I was talking on the phone with a fellow photographer and we discussed the lack of a Sigma announcement. We both agreed that a Sigma 35/1.4 would be most welcome <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

I don't see what's new regarding the other two lenses, though. Am I missing something?

I'm not sure either <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

But was the 17-70 already released with the new plastic body?

That being said, I expect Sigma to boost their price a notch. Can Sigma still be Sigma if they get too expensive <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />?
