I will review this lens on the D7000, too, and right after that it will have to find a new home. I'm not really looking forward to letting it go ...

Shall we assume that the future DX test body will be D7000 <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' />...

Long story short: if you want better sharpness, go for the Canon (I have to disagree with photozone's measurements, as I have visually demonstrated).

I don't see any prove for your claim. Not in your visual demonstration, nor in our measurements (which, as is stated here and there on this site, can not be compared across systems).

Funny enough, I would rather say that you demonstration fully concurs with PZ's results, both in vignetting and resolution :-)

Yawn. What a fruitless discussion. Both lenses seem to offer superb quality in real life as judged by the samples. Which one is better is not determined by resolultion but by compatability with your camera mount.

As a side note: Anybody who has ever shot with a lens knows that resolution can very slightly with focus distance, since the optical system changes. In addition, there is also the issue of sample variation and field curverture. Thus slightly differnt results between photozone tests and real life shots are nothing special but quite normal. formal lens tests provide just like individual sample shots not more than a rough guideline about lens performance. There are certainly inadaquate to furnish proof about diminiutive and practicaly irrelevant differences in sharpness.

That sums it up nicely, thanks!
