Then I'm wondering why you said that the Canon has non-existing border behaviour, keeping the center-corner differences shown at f/1.4 between the N and C in the graphs aside <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Could it be that "border" vs. "corner" is the issue here?

Yes, I meant corners - not borders. Sorry for the typo.

Just to mention - there's, of course, still some resolution - we defined a 3px blur as "poor". That's still sufficient to recognize coarse structures. All the micro-contrast is gone though. So "non-existing resolution" has to be seen in relation to this definition. A 3px blur is equivalent to a "local" resolution of ~2-3mp rather than 21mp. If you take a 2-3px image it'll still print great on 10x15cm. However, you don't need a DSLR for this (unless you're after shallow DOF, of course).

I was looking at the ImaTest Explanation link so I couldn't find the regions of interest but now found them in the Len Test FAQ. Thanks.

I'm just wondering how you explain the differences between off-center resolution figures that you calculated and the ones I observed. Because we have made opposite observations and I have shown my results.

I can confirm that a 2MP image shows the off-center problems, especially with point light sources... for example in 1080P video. But, as I have been saying, both lenses are close in this regard.
