RE: Sigma AF 30mm f/2.8 EX DN is broken - help needed!! - davidmanze - 05-16-2018 Actually I did buy the Sigma sports and I did buy the Sigma dock, the dock turned up after I had returned the sport. The lens was so de-centered I returned it to the seller, but then look at the AF-C 50mm F1.4, that was just as bad, so that sort of stuff happens! However, I'm not in the market for their larger lenses that I can't afford really ,so I buy/bought their older series, probably where a lot of my Sigma woes started. I like the IQ. Nikon/Canon/Sigma/ Tamron are producing sooo many new optics their reluctance to service and stock spares is hardly surprising, so older lens become significantly more of a risk! There is now the first successful Nikon adapter for ML which actually works and the future looks good for improvements in terms of AF-C etc. if ever I should buy a Sony A.... All in all I must stop buying lenses! The Sigma 135/1.8 Art is a beast, and the Tamrons come with lots of cute ideas. Thanks for bringing them to my attention. But since Fuji's latest Kaizen update for X-T2, I regain some joy with it (although people are already ranting about some bugs...) Their focus-stacking is just a little bit more clever than Nikon's. But for both companies there's plenty of space for improvements. However, I tried a handhold focus stack with the X-T2 and could get away with it. RE: Sigma AF 30mm f/2.8 EX DN is broken - help needed!! - Sammy - 06-13-2018 Sigma just mailed an estimate for the cost to repair this lovely little lens: 71 Euro. Not bad at all! RE: Sigma AF 30mm f/2.8 EX DN is broken - help needed!! - JJ_SO - 06-13-2018 Sounds affordable. Sigma Switzerland is pretty amazing in terms of service: Sometimes it was less than 5 days to get the lens back from service. They guarantee lifelong checks for free. I also sent in the 35/1.4 A which fell down to a wooden floor, there was just one of the flanges for the lens hood missing. And its as already out of warranty, so I was prepared to get a bill. Exchange of the lenshood mount was done for free. RE: Sigma AF 30mm f/2.8 EX DN is broken - help needed!! - davidmanze - 06-13-2018 A bargain! |
