It looks a bit as if one could hide the camera behind the lens. Just as Fuji's 8-16 mm monster.

10mmf1.7plus stabilisation.... you can shoot the milkyway handheld....

It's a "20-50mm f/3.4". That is actually very impressive.

RE: PanaLeica 10-25mm f/1.7 in development - Brightcolours - 09-27-2018

It is novel, yes. Thaaaaat impressive, depends on how you look at it. Sigma's 18-35mm f1.8 is a 27-52.2 f2.7 FF equivalent. So they salvage a 20-27mm range but lose a f2.7-f3.4 range 2/3rds of a stop!). A Canon/Sony 16-35mm f2.8 also is faster, goes wider, but it lacks the 35-50mm range. Tokina's 14-20mm f2 is a 21-30mm f3 lens, half a stop faster but quite a bit shorter.

So, yes, it is novel a range. And perhaps attractive for MFT users, if the price is not too crazy.

The range is very interesting although I'm not sure the f1.7 is very sensible given how big the lens is going to be.
To me the start of the range at 20mm (equiv) fits exactly in the sweet spot.
The typical standard zooms always start at 24 or 28 (equiv) which is often not wide enough.
The typical wide-angle zooms are always too short.
I think a perfect travel zoom would actually be a 20-100. For MFT a 10-50 f4 would be awesome (or if too difficult say 10-40).
In light of this this 10-25 is quite interesting. Just wish they would have made it a hair longer.

A 10-50mm f/4 will not happen any time soon. 10-25mm is already unique.

A f2.8 version would be more interesting for me - nsandersen - 10-25-2018

An f2.8 version would be more interesting to me.
Reminds me of the 11-22mm in the original 4/3 format.

No, they don’t lose 2/3 of a stop. It is an F/1.7 lens, so slightly faster.

If you want to talk equivalence, please say so. It is not the same, however.

Kind regards, Wim

Regardless of any speed discussion that range is an outstanding achievement alone already.
