But Samyang already has a DSLR version, Rokinon 85mm f1.4 AS IF. Given it's performance, it's more a small, lukewarm cake: https://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2019/04/just-mtf-charts-rokinon-samyang-lenses/

With AF, you mean? Hmm, I can't see how they do increase the flange distance from Sony ML to CaNikon without changing it optically.

And still, I don't think, it would sell like hot cakes: Nearly all DSLR owners looking for a 85/1.4 already got a solution, be it 2nd hand, 3rd party or grey import genuines, or the better f/1.8 versions (at least in Nikon land, the cheaper is the better).

Eve Nikon now will release their 85/1.8 S this or next week (at ridiculous prices, no doubt).

The Nikkor AF-S 85mm f1..8 has worse bokeh than the AF and AF-S 85mm f1.4, and verrrry strong LoCA. Not "the better" in my book.

With AF !!    .... actually the MF version is one of the least good Samyang lenses at wide apertures.

what solution have they ...... older F1.8 lenses ...... as in AF85 F1.8D like mine ..... or the G F1.8 (which is very affordable) ??........  directly you look at large aperture Nikkors things get frighteningly expensive.

........ there's plenty of room out there for a Samyang 85 F1.4 at 600 euros in any mount!

May I suggest to reread OL's test results?

Markus found low CA and good bokeh. And for very sure I can say it's much better in terms of bokeh fringing than the bigger 85/1.4 G brother. Bokeh is a matter of taste. What good is a smooth bokeh if I see lots of purple and green lines in the model's hair in frontlight?

The countless forum posts about the LoCA problems of the AF-S 85mm f1.8 are not made up, and of people wondering if they have a faulty copy (answer: no, the LoCA they get is normal for this lens).

I wrote "it's better than it's bigger brother 85/1.4G" and I still see less CA in the f/1.8 version.
