Unholy? Spawn of the devil ?

I think some of the recent phones also have software bokeh - just dial home for a bit of softness....

Yes, software bokeh is normal in smartphones these days, but I think it's a first in a system camera.

One can switch it ON or OFF and knowing Fuji, it won't be perfect anyway.

But what's the real cool thing is: Mint! Fully articulated LCD!!! The world's gonna end soon from now as the excuses for their crippled "a little bit vertically, too" display was a weird collection of bizarre statements. "better than nothing" was from the people who never had their shutter-release hand in the mud or an ant nest or worse things. Smile

Now gimme an X-E4 with the same feature plus some EVF and you just see me buying a Fuji. Only to shoot the world's end, of course... from ca-raaaazy angles. Like ant perspectives.

It has no software bokeh after all. 'Bokeh control' is merely about the aperture setting.

I strongly believe that this is the future.
I don't care about how the background blur is achieved. I do care about the costs and size/weight of my gear though. If you can get the same or better bokeh with a kit zoom lens than with a 85/1.4 - what's wrong with that?

RE: new Fujifilm X-A7 with an unholy feature - toni-a - 10-14-2019

For something to work, people must be interested, Canon introduced dual pixel raw, allowing some editing of the bokeh, I am not talking about post shot focus but about bein able to change bokeh quality, nobody cared about it....
Software bokeh can be achieved in the RAW converter on post processing yet we are not seeing it automated, we still need to do masking and apply filters to have it

In theory you are right. However, I don't think that the PD AF sensor information are stored in RAW. I'm talking about all of them (e.g. the X-T30 has 425 AF spots). The information could be used to determine the amount of local blur.
