Come on lenstip Thanx. The 1st gen. EF was not outright bad for closeups, although they did improve MFD with the newer iterations. I remember using extension tubes on it too (until one snapped in half while I was shooting, and the lens tumbled to the ground... I must've had my entire life pass before my sight in that instant). RE: Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II coming - stoppingdown - 10-19-2021 According to LensTip it's a sort of quasi-perfect lens - the only weak point is ghosting and flaring. I'm particularly impressed by the coma performance, which if I'm not wrong it's quite remarkable for a zoom lens, isn't it? https://www.lenstip.com/617.1-Lens_review-Sony_FE_70-200_mm_f_2.8_GM_OSS_II_Introduction.html RE: Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II coming - Brightcolours - 10-19-2021 (10-19-2021, 07:17 AM)stoppingdown Wrote: According to LensTip it's a sort of quasi-perfect lens - the only weak point is ghosting and flaring. I think coma comes from a curved image projection, as such wider aperture and wider angle lenses are more prone to coma than a 70-200mm f2.8 lens. That does not take away anything from the strong performance of this new Sony lens. |
