Sony 18-135 APCS - oneguy - 08-21-2023

Is it worth it to get the A6700 with this kit lens? What other options are better?

The lens is nice and compact, but of course the good zoom range must be payed with a low quality at the corners. Alternatives need to sacrifice the long end and are the usual suspects: Sigma 18-50 ƒ/2.8 and Tamron 17-70mm ƒ/2.8.

18-135 is a very good choice, i would be more comfortable with something starting 15 or 16mm on APS-C however in Sony world that's what is available.
Another option to consider if your main target is video is Sony 18-105f4
However if it's sold as a kit, you won't be disappointed by 18-135, but  by all means stay away from 16-50 the collapsible, I gave it all the chances, repaired twice  and I bought it not once or twice but four times, and each time it was the same, collapasible mechanism failure, too expensive repairs, better  buy another one.
