Have you considered shooting black and white and developing it yourself? It becomes quite cheap that way. I got quite a good deal on an Epson V700 and I let it run and scan the negs while watching some TV series.

Developing takes even more time. And one has the waste problem. One can't just poor the used developers and fixers down the drain.

if that's your problem just try finding one, they used to buy used radiology media and liquids from hospitals, I know local ones there should be where you live
