Nothing new, after such a long time: the former is good, but not worth the (original) price tag; the latter can compete in some areas, but has lots of geometric distortion.

The Zeiss 55mm has scored 15mp vs 8mp for the Zeiss 16-70mm - on the NEX7/A6000.

 

Says it all I think. Not sure where they see balance here.

DXO  scored the EF 70-200mm f2.8 L IS USM II the same as the EF 70-200mm f2.8 L IS USM. DXO mark scores the EF 16-35mm f4 L IS USM not better than the EF 17-40mm f4 L USM. DXO mark scores the EF 16-35mm f2.8 L USM II very high wide open and worse stopped down.

 

Says all about their reliability I think.

And I am surprised that their i-Lego-block didn't score better tha Sony a7
