Forums > Back > "800mm"-ish lenses - size comparison
#1
Just for the fun of it - I've attached an image of 4 camera-lens combos, which all reach the 800-900mm (equiv.) mark with similar effective apertures.

Normalized to FF:

Fuji 150-600mm f/5.6-8: "225-900mm f/8.4-f/12" - $2000
Sony 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3: "300-900mm f/8.4-f/9.5" (on APS-C) - $1900
Oly 150-400mm f/4.5: "300-800mm f/9" (+1.25x TC = 375-1000mm f/11.2 - $7500
Canon 800mm f/11 (on FF) - $900

Within their respective system and assuming similar megapixels (e.g 20-26mp) on the camera side, the image noise level will be pretty much identical.

No surprises - if you equalize the playing field, there isn't any significant difference between the different systems in terms of size. IQ and $$$ may be different questions...

I reckon the Oly will be the best of the bunch here - and it better has to be given its price tag.
