I'm planning to connect my Sony camera body with a USB cable that sports a magsafe-like magnetic connector — the main reason is that it also has a rotating end that avoids mechanical stress on the plug. But now I'm puzzled about whether the small magnetic field can interfere with the camera body (e.g. with the shutter).

Usually magnetic field is too small to interfere with the shutter, or any other mechanism, there have been reports about magnets harming memory cards, but to be able to do so, a magnet has to be really strong (more than one Tesla) and close that's hundreds of times more the magnetic field you have here, so you are totally safe
