Am I missing something in the PZ reviews? Resolution data is very useful but what about contrast? Is this discussed?

 

I compared my Oly 12-40 f2.8 at 40mm/f8  to the 40-150 kit lens at 40mm/f8. They were both very sharp but the 40-150 image appeared slightly 'gray' and did not have quite the dynamic range of the 12-40.

When an image is more contrasty, it has less dynamic range ....

No, PZ (and other lens testing websites) don't specifically test contrast.

It is not discussed but just mentioned.

Technically the MTF50 is more on the sharpness side of things rather than just pure resolution (sharpness = resolution + contrast).

Maybe I will experiment a bit with the MTF20 values (pure contrast) when introducing new systems.
