I know they can be sharp, at least in the center. I would steer well clear of mirror tele-scopes, they are good for star shooting but their rendering of backgrounds is just plain nuts....doughnuts! thousands of hoops that will spoil the image.
As I said better to concentrate on a way of getting nearer to your subject, the closer you are the better the IQ, maybe buy a bird hide like I have done, that cost me €30.
