Hi All,
I was just going through some old photographic magazine and came across an article in 'Photo Technique' from may 1998.(UK)
Here is a part, which I thought I'd share with you:
'Can you imagine a camera club whose members might never meet? The phrase '7.30pm every Thursday at the community centre' is never uttered. The Secretary's duties do not include the organisation of tea and fig rolls. Members are not required to help set up the slideshow equipment. Not much of a club, is it?
Maybe you'd prefer a different type of club then - a club which you can 'visit' any time of day or night, any day of the week. One that requires no travelling, but includes members from all around the world, and which exhibits and debates pictures on a daily basis.
In fact those two clubs could be one and the same, thanks to the modern wonder of the internet.'
Can you imagine? Yes, we can! What the world has changed in those years!
