Interesting... I think you are being a little bit harsh on it, as it mainly competes with P&S lenses such as G1X, G15, X20, RX100, etc, and the Panny PZ X.
Regarding vignetting, I think you are paying a lot of attention to the image area which is cropped out by distortion correction by default.
