Hi Klaus,



Thanks for the testing the lens. I think there is a typo in the dimensions. The lens is longer than 22mm, you might also want check the width. The Olympus website quotes a mm different. Do you remeasure those?

But why would I buy such a bulky, mediocre and expensive prime lens?



If I am not interested in portability, I can go Sony SLT-A77, fullframe or Pentax 645.

We discussed the lens internally. Frankly we don't have much hope here.

It is amusing that the extreme border is just as sharp (or soft depending on perspective) as the borders. I thought in most other reviews of wide angles it tends to continue to drop off.

Thanks for the review Klaus. I initially got stuck on the corner performance but it struck me that color rendition seems pretty nice right from f/2.0. When and if it reaches the 500-550€ I'll consider it.

If the "legendary" 12-50 f/2.3-something eventually arrives, which now seems unlikely with that 14-42 "X" lens. We sure need 6 14-4x lenses in MFT. Right Pany? Right Oly?

Thanks for the review, this is exactly the lens i would be intertested in for m43 (except the price)



You mention that you are dissapointed with the sharpness at the borders but would this not just be due to the distortion correction? I would guess that if you looked at the resolution of the non-corrected image it would be sharper at the boarders.



I have the same problem with my Panasonic LX3, I really whish that we had the choice in lightroom to enable and disable the distortion correction because it decreases resolution and field of view. For example I mostly use my LX3 on climbing/sking trips taking landscapes where i want as wide as possible. I don't care about the distortion of the lens so end up having to convert the raw file using DC raw to a 16bit tiff and then into Lightroom just so I can get the full field of view and resolution. This is a real pain, why can't they just let us enable and disable it?



Anyway back on topic it would be interesting to see the resolution charactoristic of this lens un-corrected as it would surely be higher <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

How does this compare to the Panasonic 14mm?



Performance-wise, it looks similar, but judging from your review, it gave you a much better user experience?

Oly's color rendition is preferred?
