Forums > Back > Some changes behind the scenes
#1
While PZ has been rather quite recently in terms of new reviews, some things have happened nonetheless, mostly behind the scenes, which I'd like to share:

- It's pretty old news for any fairly regular visitor here, but I'll mention it nonetheless to start the list of changes: Klaus and his girl-friend Beate managed to make one of their dreams come true by moving to Australia. Good luck down-under, mate <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

- for a few weeks already Sebastian and Anja are proud parents of a marvellous boy. Congrats!

- Klaus' move to Oz required some changes on the business side of photozone. If you have a look at our Impressum page (does anybody actually ever read those pages? <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> ) you'll see that PZ has not moved to Australia, but has turned into a company run by both Klaus and me, located at my home adress.

I'd like to use this opportunity to publicly say thank you to Klaus for building and running PZ for many years, but especially for the team he has chosen to expand the site and the level of trust he puts in the team members. Thx, Klaus.

- Talking about the team... if you ever wondered, what we all look like:

To my knowledge, this page contains the only existing image showing all 3 PZ team members at once <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Wow - I hope pz didn't turn Klaus hair grey prematurely. Btw does Klaus like OZ? I spent some time in Sydney once; while I found it lovely (esp like hiking up the cliffs over the ocean); and the folks very charming it lack a bit of the pace I had come to adopt.

Congratulations to all 3 of you and particularly to Markus and Klaus for their new business venture. It's quite a quantum leap for Klaus but he's been to Oz before and knows the place pretty well. Is the move intended to be permanent? It will be strange to celebrate Xmas and New Year in intense heat. Also quite a challenge to keep PZ going from opposite ends of the world and I'm sure all us PZ'ers wish you the very best. This has been a great site over the years, with very helpful lens reviews which have guided my purchases. For reviews, I only look here and at DPR these days.

Well, we found a home (apartment) in the meanwhile (Gordon, NSW - about 10k to the north of Sydney CBD) but basically we are sort-of camping (in room) at the moment because our container from Europe takes forever ... hopefully this misery will end on the 21st.

My girlfriend is missing the snow ... but actually I can easily wait another 6 months. Escaping November in Germany was not the worst plan ever. [Image: tongue.gif]

Is this normal? (the long shipping time?). When my parents spent a year in Wales 50 years ago I don't think it was quite this bad (they had to ship everything via boat from usa). Maybe it hasn't been as long as it seems but hasn't it been a couple of months? At least it is summer <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />/>

Well, not really, I guess. Actually, the whole team is used to working online for many years now, since we all don't live really close. This has worked pretty well so far, the only new challenge now is the different time zones. And of course it has become a little mor difficult to exchange gear.
