Hi,
What happened to our Pentax users? We used to have quite a few of those. Today we saw a bunch of Pentax announcements: The new K-r and a Pentax 35/2.4 and nobody writes about them. I hope our Pentax folks didn't move into Canon land <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ' />

Well maybe we still don't know anything about them!
K-r looks like a very nice starter to enthusiast dslr, Pentax have listened either to its users or more probably the reviewers ref the focus points. ISO to 25600 might be a push and 6fps looks to be more than class competitive. If it is as well received as the K-x then all power to Pentax. I like the zoom function built into the live view via a cursor, looks to be an elegant solution.
The DA-L 35mm f2.4 is a curious addition, already the faithful are complaining about its slowness (they lose a stop on the lens and gain maybe 2 on the camera if bought with a K-r!!!), and that it is plastic. It obviously sticks out against its direct competitors with only f2.4 verses f1.8 but again numbers are one thing, performance in the field is another so lets wait and see. It maybe very good from wide open <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ' />
A pairing of the K-r and DA-L 35 looks to be a great night time party camera, small, light and fast with enough resolution. I like the concept overall but as I have a K20D with a couple of LTDs (43 & 77) i'm more interested in the successor to the K-7 which will hopefully be announced in the next few weeks.

Hi,
I guess everybody are bit disappointed, including me :/. People were waiting for a real normal fast prime ,and got f2,4. Even Samsung managed to create small and light f2.0 normal prime. Plastic bayonet? One stop slower than Nikon 35mm 1,8 with HSM for the same price? Penatax was famous for it's primes, but now something happened. They had FA 35mm, so was it difficult to upgrade it? I still hope that with K-5 they will announce * level prime. At least one <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ' />. Generally it shouldn't be a bad lens - small and light normal prime with SMC coatings, fast enough for daylight, good for streets and travels, but expectations where much higher <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ' /> .
Regards,
A.

Actually it makes sense - to me at least. Pentax cannot survive by providing products for "prosumers" only. The lens makes sense for entry-level users - just like the camera (which looks great, BTW).

The Pentax 35mm f2 should never have gone out of production, it is a very nice lens.
The 35mm f2.4 is APS-C only, Pentax is making it more and more difficult for itself to enter the FF market in future. But for now, if the Pentax 35mm f2.4 is as least as good as my Canon 35mm f2, it would be a very nice lens to have for a Pentax DSLR.

My thoughts exactly - it's a bit too expensive for all-plastic no-motor 2.4 prime. Even hood is "optional".

Hi,
I think in the European market place many present Pentax lenses are overpriced in comparison to the competition. Something to consider when committing your £€$ for a camera.
